There are many contradictions between my experience and what is standard in the Corps, such as having a beard during my entire active duty phase. How can that be?
The world I come from exists “behind” the normal world and, like the world under the ocean that land dwellers don’t see, it’s much larger than the normal world, and the ocean gets darker the deeper you go. This is a problem for some. Most people live in the “normal” portion that is brightly illuminated where they see everything, the shadows are small, and they have accepted that what they know is all there is to know.
Peeking into the-world-behind-the-world puts out the light of the every-day world that contains all their experience, and this is disconcerting. Further, crossing into my world permanently changes people and they cannot return to their comfort zone ever again.
My writing comes from this world-behind-the-world. My writing offers a view that can be had in complete safety by people who dwell only upon land. My writing is a flashlight that anyone can use to peer into this unseen world without having to step into it to be changed forever. My writing allows people to turn the flashlight on, and then off for awhile, and then on again when they want to see more.
As for my advice? My identity is unimportant. Focus on my writing. Love it or hate it. My writing is all that is important.
Like it or not, I am what I am.

Status Update
I’ve submitted a FOIA to the agency that I know to be in possession of my file. I was advised not to expect much.
Based on this, I’ve retained a powerful attorney who has successfully assisted others in similar positions in obtaining their documentation.
As my information becomes available I will present it on my website and to those who have expressed polite concern, especially my brother’s in the Corps.
Update: 18 Dec 2010 FOIA results pending. Law firm engaged and working.
